Anti Wrinkle Treatments

Anti Wrinkle Treatments at our clinics in Kent involve injecting tiny amounts of botulinum toxin into the skin. This relaxes facial muscles, resulting in smoothed and softened fine lines and wrinkles.  Improving the texture, tone and tension of the skin is what we do best and our aim is to enhance your natural beauty.  We provide solutions that address many skin concerns, including fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring, and hyperpigmentation.

Anti wrinkle treatments aim to target fine lines and wrinkles and take a non-surgical approach to reverse the signs of ageing.  The effects usually last 3-5 months and we advise regular treatments in order to achieve optimum results.

FAQ’s

What is botulinum toxin type A?
Botulinum Toxin (Botox) is a naturally occurring protein derived from Bacterium Clostridium Botulinum.  It has been used for medical procedures since 1978 and was approved by the FDA (Food and Drug administration) in April 2002 for cosmetic treatments.  Botox is injected into the skin, causing the muscle to relax and become temporarily inactive.  This prevents the formation of new lines during the effective period.

Are anti wrinkle injections safe?
Botox injections are relatively safe if administered by a qualified and trained medical professional.  Botox is the number one cosmetic treatment in the UK and it is also licensed to treat a variety of other medical conditions.

Can the treatment be used for excessive sweating?
Hyperhidrosis is a condition that causes a person to sweat excessively from either under the armpits, soles of the feet or palms of the hands even when the temperature isn’t hot and they are not exerting themselves. Small amounts of Botox are expertly injected into the affected area and it is designed to block the activity of the sweat glands. The results are almost instant and can last up to 6 months.

How do anti-wrinkle injections work?
Fine lines and wrinkles start to appear over time and are caused by the contraction of facial muscles when laughing, frowning, concentrating or squinting. As we get older the elasticity and collagen in the skin diminishes causing the fine lines and wrinkles to become deeper and eventually permanent.  Initially, the frown lines become particularly obvious which can make us look stressed, angry and worried.  By expertly injecting tiny amounts of Botox into specific facial muscles, the signal from the nerve to the muscle is blocked, no longer allowing the muscle to contract. This causes temporary weakness of that muscle resulting in the skin becoming smooth and wrinkle free.

Is the treatment painful?
We use such tiny needles that any resulting discomfort is minimal.  However, at Honeyborne Aesthetics and Prescribing Services we also offer all our clients the option of topical anaesthesia, which is a numbing cream that may be applied up to 20 minutes before the procedure.  Alternatively, an ice pack can be applied a few minutes before the treatment to help reduce any minimal discomfort.  Treatment time is approximately 30-45 minutes inclusive of consultation.

How long do anti-wrinkle injections last?
The effects typically last about three to five months.  Repeat injections are needed to maintain optimal results.
